Nyungwe National Park

One of the oldest rainforests in Africa, Nyungwe National Park is a sanctuary of breathtaking natural beauty and extraordinary biodiversity. Nestled in Rwanda’s mountainous southwest, this lush rainforest is home to an incredible wealth of flora and fauna, with more than 1,000 plant species, hundreds of bird species, and a thriving primate population. Among its most remarkable inhabitants are chimpanzees and 12 other primate species, including the rare L’Hoest’s monkey, found only in the Albertine Rift—making Nyungwe a destination of global ecological significance.
